MARQUETTE, Mich. - The NMU men's swim and dive team finished the weekend competition with a win over SVSU and a loss to GVSU, a meet including multiple pool records broken and NCAA DII B cuts earned.
The Wildcats were victorious 164.50-130.50 over Saginaw Valley, but fell to Grand Valley 94-202. Grand Valley defeated Saginaw 202-96.
The evening started off with a hit, as the 200 yard medley relay team of
Ian Rocheleau,
Wyatt Dickman,
William LaCount, and
Martin Wolmarans claimed first and set the pool record with a time of 1:30.37, clearing the previous record by 1.46, and defeating Grand Valley's relay team by .62 seconds.
Wyatt Dickman set a pool record and earned an NCAA DII B cut in the 100 yard breaststroke with his time of 55.06, beating Roberto Camera's record of 56.23 set in 2016. Dickman placed second in the event, and the pool record would go to Andrew Goh of GVSU (54.76).
Dickman set another pool record in the 200 yard breaststroke with his time of 2:01.93, but was once again outed by Goh (2:01.14) for the official pool record.
The 400 yard freestyle relay team, consisting of Dickman,
Alessandro Rosatelli,
William LaCount, and
Gabriel Fulconi ended the meet by breaking a pool record with their time of 3:01.62, but the record would be set by GVSU's team at 2:59.72.
Rosatelli and Fulconi both earned NCAA B cuts in the 200 yard freestyle, and LaCount earned a provisional mark in the 50 yard freestyle.
The Wildcats are now off until November 9th, when the 'Cats take on Wayne State and Findlay from Detroit.
