MARQUETTE, Mich. - The NMU swim and dive team is set to host a weekend of meets in the PEIF Pool against Saginaw Valley State and Grand Valley State, coming off of a dominant weekend against the Huskies at St. Cloud State a few weeks ago.

The Wildcats take on the Cardinals in the PEIF Pool on Friday, October 25, at 6 p.m., and will close out the weekend against both the Cardinals and Lakers on Saturday, October 26, at 11 a.m.

The Wildcats, both men and women, enter the weekend ranked No. 10 in the CSCAA poll. The Cardinals are ranked No. 15 (men), the Lakers are ranked No. 4 (men) and No. 2 (women).

Hear from Heidi Voigt

"It was good… just to get out there racing other teams," said head coach Heidi Voigt, about building momentum. "It was really good to settle in, especially for Saginaw and Grand Valley that are coming at the end of the month."

Voigt is hopeful that the Men's team will bounce back after its last meets against St. Cloud State, stating that there were multiple talented athletes who were not able to travel with the team to St. Cloud.

Voigt was proud of the Women's team's performance at St. Cloud, reflecting that the women have shown lots of potential this season. "They've been really strong this year and [have had a] great mindset on deck."

Voigt was pleased to see that two divers received NCAA cuts against the Huskies. "They have to get two cuts to be able to go [to the NCAA Championships]," Voigt said about a newly implemented rule, adding that it was exciting to see two divers receive a cut early into the season.

Last Time Out
The Wildcats brought home three GLIAC weekly titles from St. Cloud earlier this month.

Tobie Stiles received an NCAA cut and won both boards on the second day of meets against the Huskies. His performance earned him a GLIAC Men's Diver of the week title. Head Coach Heidi Voigt says Stiles showed a lot of perseverance over the weekend.

Kalina Ceglinski commanded the scene at St. Cloud, winning all four boards over the weekend. Ceglinski earned an NCAA cut and was named GLIAC Women's Diver of the week.

Carlotta Santi was named GLIAC Women's swimmer of the week, earning the third title for the Wildcats.

The women dominated the meets against the Huskies, winning 148-90 on the first day and 153-69 on the second day.

The men did not put up a win against the Huskies, going 84-156 on the first day and closing the gap to 99-123 on the second day.
