SPIRIT MOUNTAIN, Minn. - The NMU Alpine Ski team continued to dominate the slopes to start the season, as the women swept the top 10 and the men swept the podium in the Giant Slalom on Saturday.
On the women's side,
Tommie Springer claimed first,
Reagan Olli finished second, and
Maddy Stern rounded out the podium in third.
On the men's side,
Brad Seaborg claimed gold,
Aaron Grzelak finished second, and
Andrew Truman rounded out the podium in third.
Women's Runs
Springer claimed first with her time of 55.38 (29.19, 26.19 - 55.38). Her second run time was the fastest of any female skier on the day.
Olli finished second with her time of 55.83 (28.69, 27.14 - 55.83). Her first run time was the second fastest of first run times.
Stern jumped up four spots after her opening run to finish third with a combined time of 56.19 (29.82, 26.37 - 56.19). Her second run time was the second fastest of second run times, only behind Springer.
The rest of the top 10 looked like this;
Ella Wichert (56.50),
Emily Creek (57.44),
Jacey Johnson (57.70),
Erin Hoelzel (57.73),
Cassidy Whitener (58.05),
Georgette Sake (58.22), and
Julia Greene (58.53).
Maya Bubolz and
Kaylee Byrne both DNF their second run, and
Ainsley Kirk DSQ'd on her first run.

Men's Runs
Seaborg (28.12, 25.68 - 53.84) claimed gold after he posted the second fastest result's in both run one and two, with his second run time being second-fastest of the day.
Grzelak (28.47, 25.39 - 53.86) climbed one spot after his first run time placed him in third by recording the fastest result of the day in his second run, jumping him to second place.
After posting the fastest result in run one, Truman (28.12, 25.95 - 54.07) was able to secure the final podium spot.
Three other 'Cats were in the top 10;
Reed Heathman (55.00) finished fifth,
Will Blackmer (55.22) finished seventh, and
Mitchell Forsberg (55.68) rounded out the top 10.
Connor Abraham finished 15th, followed by
Colin Dehart and
Nathan Dehart in 19th and 20th.
