BIG RAPIDS, Mich. - The Northern Michigan University men's golf team traveled to Big Rapids, Michigan, to take part in the B&R Investments Bulldog Classic hosted by Ferris State. The Wildcats finished T11 of 16 teams.
A 54-hole event, 36 holes were played on Monday, September 18, and the final 18 holes wrapped up on Tuesday, September 19. The Katke Golf Course is a par 71, that played 6971 yards on Monday and 6874 yards on Tuesday.
After two rounds of continuous golf, the 'Cats finished with a 606 (+38), shooting rounds of 311 and 295, and sat at T10. The 'Cats shot a third round 306 (+22) to finish at 912 (+60) for all three rounds. The 54-hole score of 912 will move into seventh all-time in the golf record book.
Eric Yun led the way for the Wildcats, shooting rounds of 76, 72, and 74 for a +9, finishing T14 of 93 athletes. Yun's final score of 222 will move into T10 all-time for 54-hole events in the NMU record book. Yun recorded 10 birdies, fifth most among all athletes, along with 26 pars. As a team, the Wildcats recorded 135 pars and 30 birdies over the course of 54 holes.

How It Happened
Rounds One and Two
- Eric Yun led the 'Cats in the opening two rounds, shooting rounds of 76 (+5) and 72 (+1) for a 148 (+6), and landing T15 going into round three. Yun recorded six birdies through two rounds, good for T7 individually across all athletes, with five of those six birdies coming in his second round. Yun finished his final seven holes of the day -3, helping himself and the team move up the leaderboard.
- Russel Sprecher was next up, shooting rounds of 81 (+10) and 72 (+1) for a 153 (+11), finishing at T41 through two rounds. Sprecher recorded four birdies overall, three of which came in round two.
- Arthur Ylitalo and Tyler Annala mirrored each other with rounds of 81 (+10), 74 (+3), and 74 (+3), 81 (+10), respectively, for rounds of 155 (+13) and placing T55. Arthur recorded four birdies over 36 holes, including finishing -2 on his last seven holes. Annala recorded three birdies, and he started off -2 through his first seven holes.
- Walter Ylitalo rounded out the team play for the 'Cats, shooting rounds of 80 (+9) and 77 (+6) for a 157 (+15), landing at T63. Walter recorded two birdies through 36 holes.
- Joe Luke competed individually for the 'Cats, shooting rounds of 78 (+7) and 82 (+11) for 160 (+18). Luke carded three birdies through two rounds.
Round Three
- Eric Yun posted a round of 74 (+3), recording four birdies and seven pars in the process. Yun posted a 54-hole final of 222 (+9), which is good for T10 all-time for the NMU golf team, and T14 individually at this event. Over 54 holes, Yun recorded 10 birdies, fifth most among all athletes, along with 26 pars.
- Russel Sprecher shot a round of 75 (+4), recording three birdies and eight pars. Sprecher recorded a 54-hole score of 228, finishing second on the team and T45 individually, posting seven birdies and 28 pars in the process.
- Tyler Annala shot a round of 79 (+8) to finish with a 234 (+21), third on the team and T59 individually.
- Walter Ylitalo shot a round of 78 (+7) to finish with a 235 (+22), fourth on the team and T62 individually.
- Arthur Ylitalo shot a round of 86 (+15) to finish with a 241 (+28), fifth on the team and T74 individually.
- Joseph Luke, who competed individually, shot a third round 78 (+7) to finish with a 238 (+25), finishing T68 individually.
