QUINCY, Ill. -
Maddi Bast scored seven goals to lead the NMU lacrosse team to a 15-4 victory at Quincy on Sunday. With the win, the 'Cats improved to 4-0 on the young season.
Bast bested her previous career-high in goals (5) to lead the NMU charge.
Minnie Bittell also recorded a hat trick while freshman
Hannah Melander was stellar in net, stopping 11 of 15 shots (.733 save percentage).
It was a slow start to the contest, with NMU scoring the only two goals of the opening quarter. In the second, Northern would double-up Quincy 4-2 for a 6-2 lead at halftime.
The Green and Gold opened it up in the third, scoring seven of the eight goal in the quarter to hit running time at 13-3 going to the final frame. NMU edged the Hawks 2-1 in the fourth for the 15-4 win.
