Lacrosse Falls Short to No. 4 UIndy

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The NMU lacrosse team traveled to the University of Indianapolis where they fell short to the Greyhounds with a score of 18-5.

Madi Bast, Minnie Bittell, Kaitlyn Bridger, Dayna Carlson, and Taylor Priestley each earned goals for the team. Bittell led in shots with three and Hannah Melander made a total of nine saves.


How it Happened
A 8-0 sweep was made by the Greyhounds in the first quarter, with Joey Fowler earning three of them. The Wildcats made two shots and had six turnovers during this time, while goalie Hannah Melander saved three balls from falling in the net. 

After two more points were made by our opponents, Taylor Priestley was able to mark the first point for the Wildcats. Three more goals were scored by UIndy before Minnie Bittell took a free-position shot and earned a second point for NMU. 

The 'Cats came back from halftime trailing behind the Greyhounds with a score of 13-2. Maddi Bast kicked off the scoring for the quarter, which was her 23rd of the season. Two more nettings were made by UIndy before Kaitlyn Bridger made a strike of her own, putting the score at 15-4. 

The fourth quarter kicked off with two goals made by the Greyhounds, which had them leading by 13 points. A goal from Dayna Carlson had us at five points, but our opponents found one last point before the end of the game. UIndy took the win against Northern with a wide margin of 18-5.
