MARQUETTE, Mich.- The Wildcats swim and dive team added another win to their record after their home meet against Wayne State University on Saturday.
Group A for the Women's 200-yard Medley Relay broke a pool record this weekend with their time of 1:43.64. The team was entered as an exhibition, so the times did not count toward the official meet scores, but the time ranks third among the fastest times across the D2 landscape.
Tobie Stiles was able to break another school record, his second within two years, in the 1-meter dive with a score of 477.84.
Final Scores
Overall, the Wildcats finished out the meet with a 75-point lead on the Warriors with 335.5-260.5.
The Men pulled ahead in the meet with 28 points, finalizing the score with 164-136.
The Women Wildcats were in the same boat, ending the meet with a score of 171.5-124.5
Highlights
The 200-yard Medley Relay kicked off the meet with
Mia Strazny, Hermione Roe,
Carlotta Santi, and
Olivia Haerr bringing home the gold with a time of 1:50.67. The Men were also able to take first with a time of 1:32.41. The team included
Thibault Auger,
Wyatt Dickman,
Leo Nolles, and
William LaCount.
Events three and four marked the 1000-yard Freestyle, which had
Anika Wright and
Caitlin Aarseth taking the reins with their first and fifth-place finishes.
Logan Robillard and
James Werwie took home third and fourth places for the Men.
With the 200-yard Freestyle following, Santi was able to find second place and earn the team four points. Close behind in fourth place was
Annika Geyer with her time of 1:59.51.
Gabriel Fulconi,
Daniel Khmara, and Daniel Lopez-Aponte made it into the top five with their respective placements of first, third, and fourth.
Camilla Carbone and
Nicole Malinova made up first and fourth places in the 100-yard Backstroke, contributing a total of 11 points to the team. Auger took second for the men's team, while Ian Rochealeau found himself in fourth and
Erikas Kapocius fell into fifth..
The 100-yard Backstroke saw Evelyn DeCarlo,
Zoe DeKievit, and Roe claiming first through third place with a combined 16 points for the board. Dickman, LaCount, and Metzler found the top of the leaderboard with their respective placements of first, third, and fourth.
Switching over to the 200-yard Butterfly, Txell Font-Cantarero,
Sophia Moore, and Anika Geyer placed in the top five, at first, third, and fifth. The Men, on the other hand, had Javier Pena-Reyes,
Hudson Lowery, and
Patrick Andrews claiming second, third, and fifth.
The first dive of the meet was the 3-meter Dive which had
Abbie Harned falling into second place with 387.29 points.
Lauren Plockmeyer and
Kalina Ceglinski placed fourth and fifth with their respective scores of 212.48 and 212.17. As for the Men's side,
Tobie Stiles stood at the top of the leaderboard with a score of 477.84, with
Diego Carrillo and
Ryan Foucault falling behind in fourth and fifth.
The 100-yard Freestyle saw Bloser make her way into first, while Burrows claimed third and
Donna Hannig found fifth. Fulconi placed at the top of the board with a time of 46.47 with
Daniel Khmara in second and
Logan Robillard in fourth.
Carbone earned second place and Strazny took third in the 200-yard Backstroke while Auger, Kapocius, and Lopez-Aponte found themselves in second, fourth, and fifth with respective times of 1:52.54, 1:56.45, and 1:58.17.
The 200-yard Breaststroke saw DeKievit claiming first place with nine points, while
Ella Houwers and Roe contributed five points with their third and fourth placements. Dickman and Nick Metzler earned a total of 13 points with their first and second finishes.
The 500-yard Freestyle saw Wright coming out on top for the fourth time in a row for this event. Close behind was Santi in second and Geyer finding her place in fourth. As for the Men's team, Pena-Reyes took home third with his time of 4:56.13.
Font-Cantarero kicked off the 100-yard Butterfly with her first-place win and had DeKievit close behind in third. The men's team had quite a few make the top five with Lowery earning second, Rocheleau in fourth, and Boomer in fifth.
Abbie Harned returned to the diving board for the 1-meter dive, leading her to a second-place finish with a score of 427.28. The Men's 3-meter Dive found Stiles also taking second with his score of 272.30.
Wright swam phenomenally and earned gold in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:07.35. On the flip side was Fulconi who placed first, Kapocius earned fourth, and
James Werwie found fifth place.
Closing out the meet was the 200-yard Freestyle Relay where the Women's team tied for first with Wayne State at 1:38.71. Bloser, Burrows,
Joanne Arbic, and Hannig made up the team. The Men's team also earned first place with LaCount, Fulconi, Wolmarans, and Nolles coming out of the water at 1:25.04.
