MARQUETTE, Mich.- The annual Green and Gold swim and dive meet was held on Saturday, Sept. 24.
EVENT RECAP
Opening the meet was the 200-yard Medley Relay with the Gold team taking first. On the Women's side were Camilla Carbone, Zoe Dekieveit, Donna Hannig, and Nadia Helm. The Men's side consisted of Erikas Kapocius, Roberto Camera, Hudson Lowery, and Ryan Lund.
The Green team evened things out for the 1000-yard Freestyle with freshman Caitlin Aarseth and fifth-year Ondrej Zach. Aarseth completed the event with a final time of 11:07.48 and Zach at 9:50.54.
The 200-yard Freestyle gave both teams a run for their money, with the Gold team winning for the women and the Green taking the win for the men. Sophomores Donna Hannig and Daniel Lopez-Aponte finished first. Hannig finished with a time of 1:59.17, while Lopez-Aponte took the lead with 1:46.90.
Similar to the previous event, the 100-yard Backstroke and 100-yard Breaststroke had both teams earn first place. Green team's Heidi Billings finished Backstroke at 58.97, and Gold's Leo Nolles earned a time of 51.87. Evelyn DeCarlo of the Green team, and Roberta Camera of the Gold team, earned first place in Breaststroke.
The 200-yard Butterfly was led by senior Txell Font-Cantarero, representing the Green team, and freshman Hudson Lowery of the Gold team. Olivia Haerr (Green) and Leo Nolles (Gold) took first in the 50-yard Freestyle. Haerr surpassed her seed time of 25.32 with 24.88 and second place's Nadia Helm went from 25.93 to 24.93. William LaCount achieved a new time of 21.74.
The Women's 3-Meter dive was won by Gold's Abbie Harned with a final score of 134.85. Their 1-Meter Dive had a tie for first place with Lauren Plockmeyer and Abbie Harned from the Green team with a score of 232.30. Notable mentions include Izzy McCabe of the Green team who succeeded her time of 201.20 to 201.30 and Abbie Harned who went from 229.20 to 232.30. Tobie Stiles won the Men's 1-Meter dive with a score of 266.70 and the 3-Meter dive with 120.45.
The 100-yard Freestyle was won by both teams. Olivia Haerr took the Women's and the Men's was led by Leo Nolles. Heidi Billings won the 200-yard Backstroke while Kyle Griswold of the Gold team had a final time of 1:57.31.
Gold succeeded in the 200-yard Breaststroke with wins from Zoe Dekievit and Roberto Camera. Green took the win for the 500-yard Freestyle by Caitlin Aarseth and Ondrej Zach. The 100-yard Butterfly tripped up the teams with wins from both sides by Txell Font-Cantarero and Hudson Lowery.
Green's Billings and Lopez-Aponte won the 200-yard Intrasquad. Gold ended up finishing the meet with the 200-yard Freestyle Relay. The women's side included Donna Hannig, Jillian McKinley, Joanne Arbic, and Nadia Helm. Whereas the men's consisted of Roberto Camera, Ryan Lund, Liam Boomer, and Daniel Khmara of the Men's side.
FINAL SCORES
Overall, the Gold team claimed the meet. They earned 300.50 points while Green trailed with 266.50
Gold also won the men's events contributing 168 points, while Green tallied 113.00
The Green women's team came out victorious. They topped Gold 153.50 to 132.50.

You can catch the swim and dive team at their first meet on Oct. 7 and 8 at St. Cloud State University. The team will have their first home meet at 5 p.m. on Oct. 28, against Saginaw Valley State University.
