Men's Basketball Ready for Tip-off at Pair of NSIC Foes

MARQUETTE, Mich. - The Northern Michigan University men's basketball team is set for a weekend road trip to "the gopher state", where they will face off against non-conference opponents St. Cloud State and Minnesota Duluth. 

The 'Cats (4-1, 0-0) will play the Huskies (1-3, 0-1) on Saturday, November 26 at 2 PM, and then face the Bulldogs (4-1, 1-0) the day after on Sunday, November 27 at 2 PM.

A Look at the Wildcats
The 'Cats are off to a hot 4-1 start, good for second in the GLIAC behind Purdue Northwest (4-0, 0-0). The Wildcats are coming off their only loss in the early season, losing to Hillsdale (6-0, 0-0) 53-74 the past weekend in Hillsdale, Michigan.

Senior Max Bjorklund drives the offense for the 'Cats as he is ranked first in the world of Division II basketball with 122 points. He also lands first in the GLIAC in points per game (24.2), points per 40 minutes (29.8), and field goals made (42). He leads his team in three points made (10), which are suitable for second in the GLIAC. Max has proven to be reliable around the glass as well, as he is second in the GLIAC in defensive rebounds (24).

Brian Parzych highlights another bright spot in the Wildcats' offense, as he leads the team in total minutes played (171) and average minutes played (34.2). Brian has made 28 field goals and has 84 points on the season, both good for second and third in the GLIAC. Parzych is very reliable around the glass, as he ranks fifth in the GLIAC in total rebounds (24), and his playmaking ability has propelled him to a team-leading 18 assists.

Dylan Kuehl is third on the team in points (53), average points (10.6), and field goals made (21). He currently sits third in the GLIAC and first on the team in field goal percentage (.656).

A Look at the Huskies
St. Cloud State owns a 1-2 record on their season, putting them seventh in the North Division of the NSIC. They are coming off a 68-86 loss to Minnesota State University (5-0, 0-0).

Tony Dahl leads the Huskies with 46 points and a 15.3 average, Tommy Chatman is second with 40 points and leads the team with 97 minutes played, and Ryan Bagley leads the team with 18 rebounds and 17 assists, 


A Look at the Bulldogs
Minnesota Duluth owns a 3-1 record on their season, placing them third in the North Division of the NSIC. The Bulldogs are coming off a 64-71 loss to Ferris State (2-2, 0-0).

Drew Blair leads the Bulldogs with 70 points, and a 17.5 average, Jack Middleton is second on the team with 61 points and first with 12 three-points made, and Austin Andrews leads the Bulldogs in boards with 42.
