Wildcats Settle for 1-1 Draw Against Davenport

MARQUETTE, Mich. - After a battle in the cold and rain, the Wildcats and Panthers battled to a 1-1 draw on Friday afternoon.

The Panthers got on the board first in the 12th minute and that 1-0 score would remain until halftime. The Wildcats got the equalizer on a penalty kick from Tommaso Lami with 20 minutes to go.

Despite some quality looks late, NMU could not push across the game-winner. The 'Cats led in shots 18-13 in the contest.

On the day, you can't be anything but frustrated and disappointed not to win a game with that many clear chances, possession and territory," Coach Fatovic said after the game. "It certainly is still the story of the season right now. We again made things difficult off a 2nd chance set piece, but in classic Wildcat fashion we kept going and found that equalizer. In the long run, its a massive point and kept us within striking distance of the two teams ahead of us. Now we need to rest up and get ready for another battle at home Sunday vs PNW."

Thank You Seniors

First Half
The Panthers struck first 12 minutes into action on a laser from Faheem Patel. After the ball bounced around a few times, Patel gathered and fired it into the back of the net for a 1-0 DU advantage.

Cian Tunney had a great series of looks for the equalizer in front in the 27th minute, but his shots were saved, blocked, and off the crossbar.

DU hit the post with 5 seconds left in the half as NMU dodged going down 2-0. Davenport was up one at the halftime intermission. They led in shots on goal 3-2 despite NMU's edge in total shots, 9-8.

Second Half
The first 15 minutes of the second were limited with chances, but the Wildcats started to get some momentum. Philip Rimmler had a free-kick look just outside the box, but his shot sailed high.

In the 68th minute, Tommaso Lami got tripped inside the box, and he converted on the penalty kick for his team-leading fifth goal of the season. NMU tied it up 1-1 with just over 20 minutes left.

Despite a productive second-half push, the Wildcats settled for a 1-1 draw with Davenport.
