Box Score MIDLAND, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University men's soccer team (0-3-2, 0-1-1 GLIAC) found themselves in their second two overtime battle of the year in a 1-1 draw at Northwood University in conference action on Sunday.

FIRST HALF |
The Wildcats had four shots on goal in the first 33 minutes of the match against the Timberwolves.
Ryan Palmbaum took two of those shots with Cian Tunney and Kaffie Kurz taking one each in the opening half.
Northwood scored the only goal of the first half in the 39th minute which put the home team up 1-0.
NMU had more shots than the Timberwolves in the half by over double (9-4) as well as double the corners (4-2). The 'Cats also had the ball in their possession for 55-percent of the opening half.

'CATS COMEBACK |
With a little over five minutes left in regulation, the Wildcats got on the board.
A long, high pass from Palmbaum on the right side of the field found Tunney inside the box to the left with a defender to beat. Tunney beat the opposing player on the right and kicked in the equalizing goal.
The goal was the first of the year and NMU career for the freshman forward.
At 90 minutes the score remained 1-1 and overtime was forced.

OVERTIME |
In the first overtime period, the Wildcats got two shots off to Northwood's one.
The second overtime saw more offensive attempts than the first as Brady Kronenburg took three shots with his last one coming on target and a Palmbaum shot on goal was also saved.
NMU's defense held stout in the second overtime and the match ended in a tie 1-all.

"This weekend was more important than just wins, losses, and ties for us; it gave us some good experiences to learn from and make us better," said head coach David Poggi.
"It's hard to believe that for most of the squad this was their first GLIAC two-match weekend. It's a different rhythm which is both mentally and physically demanding," added the coach.
"I believe we took a few steps forward this weekend and this will definitely help prepare us for the next one."

Ryan Palmbaum had a match and team-high nine shots. Tunney and Palmbaum tied for the match and team-high in shots on goal with four each.
Kronenburg had three shots on goal while Kurz and Noah Eklund contributed one each.
NMU won the possession battle as they controlled the ball for 55-percent of the match. They outshot the Timberwolves 23-10 overall and 13-4 in shots on goal.
Alex Weaver played all 110 minutes in goal for the Wildcats and had three saves.
