MARQUETTE, Mich. — Northern Michigan University Volleyball looks to keep their seven-match winning going as they head to Lake Superior State for Friday and Saturday Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) matches.

The Wildcats won back-to-back 3-0 matches over the Northwood. The first match was in NMU's favor as set one was a 25-18 victory and the final two sets were won by scores of 25-15 and 25-12, respectively.
Saturday featured some closer sets between the Wildcats and Timberwolves. NMU won the first set 25-18 much like the first day. Set two was another 25-18 win for the home team and set three was a 30-28 NMU victory.

NMU volleyball has six student-athletes in the top three of seven different statistical categories in the GLIAC.
Jacqueline Smith continues to lead the conference in kills per set with 4.38.
Five Wildcats each rank second in their respective categories: Meghan Meyer in hitting percentage (.435), Alli Yacko in total digs (168), Evynn Layshock and Lauren Caprini in service aces per set (0.50), and Lauren Van Remortel in assists per set (11.29).
Remortel's assists per set mark is fourth in all of NCAA Division II.

The Wildcats lead the all-time series against the Lakers 86-17-1 including winning 63 out of the last 65. LSSU is 0-8 this season and most recently fell in straight sets to Saginaw Valley.
The most recent match between the teams was in November of 2019 when NMU earned a 3-0 road win. The set scores from Sault Ste. Marie were 25-15, 25-17, and 25-21.
