LAST TIME OUT

The Wildcats split their season-opening series with Ferris State last weekend. On Friday they played a hard-fought match that went to five sets against the Bulldogs. NMU fell in the first set 25-8 before coming back to win the second 34-32. Set three went Ferris State 25-23. The Wildcats forced a fifth set with a 25-23 fourth set win. In the end, the Bulldogs prevailed 17-15 in the final set.
Saturday was kinder to NMU at Ferris State. They went 25-16, 25-18, 23-25, and 25-22 for the 3-1 victory.

STATISTICAL SUCCESS

Three Wildcats are ranked No. 1 in the GLIAC in various categories. Freshman Jacqueline Smith leads the league with 4.56 kills per set and total kills with 41.
Sophomore Lauren Van Remortel is first in assists per set with 12.22, which is also the top mark in the nation. She also leads the GLIAC in total assists with 110.
Senior Alli Yacko is the league leader in total digs with 54.

MAKING NOISE NATIONALLY

Alongside the individual stats rankings, the team as a whole is also putting up impressive numbers. They are first in NCAA DII in digs per set (23.11) and fourth in both kills per set (14.44) and assists per set (13.56).

NMU VERSUS SAGINAW VALLEY
|
NMU holds a 58-14 all-time advantage over the Cardinals. Last season SVSU defeated the Wildcats in University Center, Mich. 3-0.
