CABLE, Wisc.— Northern Michigan University's Nordic Ski team traveled to Cable, Wisconsin for a three-day long competition. Throughout the various races five Wildcats found themselves placing in the top-30 in their respective races.
Men's freestyle
Senior Wildcat, Daniel Steinz (Hersey, Maine), found great success and placed fourth in his classic sprint race where he finished his race with a time of 3:12.56.
Starting off the three day competition on Friday, the 'Cats competed in the 15k race where
Kjetil Baanerud (Oslo, Norway) placed 16th. He finished his race with a time of 35:52.64.
Tobias Moosmann (Kossen, Austria) also found himself placed at the competition. Moosmann competed in the 15k race where he finished in a time of 39:59.04, leading him to 25th overall.
Women's freestyle
For the women, two competing Wildcats found themselves placed 18th in their respective races. Wildcats
Savanna Fassio (Park City, Utah) and
Katerina Hyncicova (Liberec, Czech Republic) respectively raced in the 15k mass start and classic sprint. Fassio finished her race with a time of 44:32.50 and Hyncicova finished the sprint with a time of 3:58.38.
Fassio placed twice over the weekend. In addition to her success in the 15k, she found herself 24th in the classic 10k with a time of 34:33.52.

The Nordic Ski team will go on a short break for the Holidays then get back on the road for more competition shortly after the new year. The 'Cats will start the new year off traveling to Midway, Utah to compete in four days of races for the US Nationals. They will start off the US Cross Country Ski Championships Sunday Jan. 2, 2022 and conclude the competition Friday Jan. 7.
