LAST TIME OUT
The Wildcats opened 2020 with two home games, hosting #4 Ashland University then Wayne State University. NMU held Ashland to just 27 points in the first half, and kept the Eagles to under 90 points for just the third time this season, but ended up falling to Ashland. The team then returned to host the Warriors Saturday afternoon and hit a three-pointer with 10 seconds left to win 58-56.

HITTING THE GAME WINNER
Wayne State was able to take a 56-55 lead with 28 seconds left after hitting a three. The Wildcats called timeout and advanced the ball to their end of the court. Junior Amber Huebner (Marquette, Mich.) drove down the left lane line and found senior Jessica Schultz (Mineral Point, Wis.) under the basket. Wdhen the entire Wayne State defense collapsed on Schultz, she found junior Elizabeth Lutz (Marshall, Wis.) wide open in front of the NMU bench. Lutz made the game winner to give the Wildcats their first win of 2020.
GETTING NEW HIGHS
In Saturday's win, Lutz dished out a career-high four assists. Sophomore Emily Mueller (Fond du Lac, Wis.) reached a new career best of 11 points, and also set a new personal mark by making three three-pointers.
It was the most action Lutz has seen this year after fighting injury the first part of the season as she also posted season-highs with nine points and three three-pointers. Schultz tallied a season-best four assists Saturday as well.
