INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Northern Michigan University Swim & Dive teams concluded their third day at the NCAA Division II Championships, seeing three individuals and one relay score points for the Wildcats.

GAINING HONORS

Junior Rachel Helm (Newcastle, England) was the first Wildcat to race in finals, placing sixth in the 100-yard Backstroke with a time of 54.41 and gaining an All-American honor. On the men's side, senior Renars Bundzis (Riga, Latvia) claimed sixth as well, finishing finals with a time of 47.17 and giving him the All-American title, while junior Lajos Budai (Kecskemet, Hungary) placed 10th with a time of 47.44, making him an Honorary All-American.

OTHER SWIMS

Competing in the 100-yard Butterfly was senior David Miranda (Vinaros, Spain) touching at 1:50.15, and senior Ryan Leonard (South Wales, Australia) hitting the wall at 1:53.50. Senior Regan Kilburn (Muscatine, Iowa) swam the 100-yard Backstroke, finishing at 55.81.

FINISHING THE DAY

The Wildcats concluded their day with the men's 800-yard Freestyle Relay consisting of junior Jonas Reinhold (Nienhagen, Germany), freshman Jon Busse (Stillwater, Minn.), Leonard, and Budai. The team touched at 6:37.68 to receive seventh place and earning each member All-American status.

UP NEXT

The Wildcats come back tomorrow for their fourth and final day of competition. NMU will have athletes competing in the 200-yard Backstroke, 100-yard Freestyle, 200-yard Breaststroke, and 400-yard Freestyle Relay, while the divers move to the 3 Meter board.
