  LAST TIME OUT

The Wildcats hosted their first games inside the Berry Events Center this past weekend and came away with two victories. On Saturday, the team hosted St. Cloud State University and came away with a 55-53 victory with a game winning layup with one second left. They returned Sunday and hosted Concordia University St. Paul where they outscored the Golden Bears 20-10 in the third quarter on their way to a 65-60 victory.

  MAKING PLAYS

Senior Erin Honkala (Howell, Mich.) was key to the NMU success over the weekend. In Saturday's win, she scored the game winner with one second remaining by making a layup on a pass from junior Amber Huebner (Marquette, Mich.). In Sunday's win, she blocked two game winning shots by CSP, including a three-pointer, to help give NMU two wins. She averaged 9.5 points and 8.5 rebounds along with 2.5 blocks over the weekend.

  MAKING HERSELF KNOWN

Sophomore Elena Alaix (Madrid, Spain) made her presence felt in Sunday's win. She came off the bench to score a team-best 15 points and posted three assists. She finished the game 3-4 from the three-point line and 5-8 overall, going 2-2 from the free throw line.

  DEFEATING CSP

To get victory over the Golden Bears Sunday, four wildcats reached double figures, led by Alaix's 15 points. Honkala chipped in with 13 points while Makaylee Kuhn (Hilbert, Wis.) posted 12 points and senior Jessica Schultz (Mineral Point, Wis.) added 11.

In the game, the Wildcats used an 11-point run that spanned the first and second quarter to cut into the CSP lead, they then came out of halftime to outscore the Golden Bears 20-10 in the third quarter. Schultz led the third quarter with seven points.
