Box Score UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University Men's Soccer team collected their third-straight win as they recorded the first shutout over Saginaw Valley State University in program history with a 3-0 victory in Friday's Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest.

The Wildcats took a lead in the 31st minute as freshman Ryan Palmbaum (Rocklin, Calif.) scored his fifth goal in three matches. Soon after a corner kick, senior Ben Hoffman (Petoskey, Mich.) was able to find Palmbaum for his seventh goal of the season.

In the 66th minute, Hoffman scored his third goal of the season and his 10th of his career. Freshman Francisco Espinoza (Buenos Aires, Argentina) collected his second assist of the season, and second in the last three games.

Junior Isaac Wigermo (Gothenburg, Sweden) scored his first career goal in the 77th minute to give the Wildcats a 3-0 lead. Senior Sveinn Karlsson (Akureyri, Iceland) tallied the assist on the insurance goal for his second assist this year and his ninth career assist.

Palmbaum led the Wildcats offense with three shots. Karlsson added two shots. Five more each added a shot as NMU finished with a 10-9 shot advantage.
In goal, sophomore Patrick Restum (Okemos, Mich.) notched three saves.

NMU improves to 6-8 on the season and are now 5-5 in the GLIAC while SVSU fell to 8-5-1, 6-5 in GLIAC action. The Wildcats will now head to Northwood University Sunday looking to make it four in a row.
