Biography

2018: Appeared in nine games throughout the season. GLIAC All-Academic Team.

2017: Appeared in 17 matches, earning the start on 15 occasions. Scored his first goal of the season on September 2 versus Missouri-St. Louis. His second goal of the year came in a three-point effort on October 28 versus Notre Dame (OH), also adding an assist. Named to the GLIAC All-Academic Team.

2016: Led team in points (13), goals (4) and assists (5) during its inaugural season. Was the only player on the roster to start all 17 games and was one of five to start at least 15. Also tied Sam Popp for the team lead in shots (35) and sent a team-best 18 on net. Tallied first career goal on Sept. 4 at Missouri St. Louis. Had five-point outing (1g-3a) in program's first victory on Sept. 18 against Walsh. Named to the all-GLIAC honorable mention squad.

Before NMU: Karlsson led his club team, Knattspyrnufélag Akureyrar, to an 11-4-3 league record. Knattspyrnufélag Akureyrar qualified for the Icelandic Youth Cup, where it fell in the semifinals on penalty kicks. A three-time Player of the Match honoree, Karlsson totaled 24 points (7g-10a) in 18 matches.
