LAST TIME OUT

The Wildcats participated in the Midwest Region Volleyball Conference Crossover this past weekend and finished the Crossover 1-2 while facing three talented teams. The weekend started with NMU facing the University of Missouri-St. Louis, but the Wildcats fell 3-1. On Saturday, NMU went to five sets in both matches, pulling out a 3-2 victory over the University of Illinois Springfield in the morning but falling to Cedarville University 3-2 that afternoon.

GETTING THE KILL
|
Freshman Abigail Durecki (South Lyon, Mich.) posted 44 kills last weekend to lead the Wildcats and only committed seven errors in the process. The freshman averaged a team-high 3.13 kills per set while hitting at a .425 clip over three matches. She is hitting .340 this season, and among all players in the GLIAC with more than 400 attempts, just one player has fewer errors than she does.

DEFEND THE NET
|
Durecki and senior Sarah Kuehn (Green Bay, Wis.) both rank in the top six of the GLIAC in blocks. Kuehn ranks third with 73 total blocks and is fourth with 0.90 blocks per set. Durecki has 61 blocks and is tied for sixth. As a duo, they have 134 total blocks and are just two blocks shy of leading the league.

COMING UP ACES
|
NMU has a total of 91 aces this season with five players in double figures. Durecki leads the team with 24 aces and is fourth in the GLIAC. Sophomore Lizzy Stark (Minneapolis, Minn.) has 15 while sophomore Alli Yacko (Oak Lawn, Ill.) and freshman Lauren Van Remortel (Carmel, Ind.) both have notched 14. Sophomore Lauren Caprini (St. Charles, Ill.) has contributed 13. Freshman Madeline Crowley (Green Bay, Wis.) made an impact at the Cross over with three aces.

NMU VERSUS PNW
|
NMU leads the all-time series 2-0 after sweeping the Pride the past two seasons. PNW enters the weekend 3-18 overall and seeks their first GLIAC victory this year.

NMU VERSUS PARKSIDE
|
The Wildcats are 12-5 against the Rangers but fell in last year's meeting in five sets. Prior to last season's contest, the team's hadn't played each other since 2014.
