Box Score

BEMIDJI, Minn. — The Northern Michigan volleyball team will enter Great Lakes Intercollegiate Play with an 8-1 record after toppling Bemidji State, 3-1, Monday night at the BSU Gymnasium in front of 215 fans.

After dropping a tight first set, 25-22, the Wildcats rebounded to dispatch the Beavers in the next three by scores of 25-19, 25-21 and 25-21.

"This was a full team win," head coach Dominic Yoder said. "We had contributions from many players tonight."

Madison Whitehead built on her strong performance at last weekend's Peacock Open, posting 12 kills, a .346 hitting percentage and three block assists. Lisa Studnicka (12) and Kayla Chosa (11) also reached the double digits in kills while Alex Berger posted a game-high 22 digs.

"Kayla, Madi and Lisa led the way offensively," Yoder said. "And Alex really helped the offense to roll."

For the fifth-straight match, Jami Hogeboom posted a game-high in assists, this time totaling 35.

Northern Michigan held Bemidji State to a .094 hitting percentage and posted 17 total blocks. Five Wildcats recorded service aces.

The Wildcats open GLIAC play Friday when they host Northwood at 7 p.m. They then square off against Lake Superior Saturday at 2 p.m.
