Box Score

NORTH CANTON, Ohio — The Northern Michigan football team topped Walsh, 35-17, Saturday night at Tom Benson Stadium.

Shaye Brown connected with Keyondre Craig for three touchdowns in the game, including two which were 35 yards or longer. With four touchdowns in the game, Brown reached 23 on the season, breaking Matt Hoard's single-season record, which was set in 1996.

The Wildcats jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the game's first minute when Brown hit Craig for a 37-yard score. By the end of the first quarter, Northern Michigan had extended its lead to 21-3 after Brown found Craig at 6:24 for an 11-yard touchdown and Tucker at 1:31 for a 22-yard score.

Walsh scored the second quarter's lone points on a one-yard Jeremy Willison touchdown rush with 50 seconds remaining.

Brown found Craig for the third time in the game at 8:30 in the third quarter, hitting him with a 35-yard pass to give the Wildcats a 28-10 lead.

Aaron Harris capped the scoring for Northern Michigan, and the game, with a 15-yard touchdown run at 6:30 in the fourth.

Craig became the ninth Wildcat in program history to haul in three touchdowns in a game, joining Bob Stefanski (1983), Joel Yaggie (1986), D.J. Rein (1989), Jeremy Wilkinson (1997), Vincent Mayfield (2003), Fred Wells (2005), Dustin Brancheau (2010) and Marcus Tucker (2015). Tucker accomplished that feat in Northern Michigan's 31-14 win over Quincy Sept. 12.

Brown went 23 for 35 with 299 passing yards. Craig posted a game-high 95 yards on four catches while Harris totaled a team-high 62 rushing yards.

Matt Boonstra (12) and Levi Perry (11) reached the double digits in tackles. Perry also picked off a Jason Fracassa pass and returned it 20 yards.

Overall, the Cavaliers outgained the Wildcats, 464-398, but they only converted on four of 13 third downs.

With the win, Northern Michigan improves to 5-4 (4-4 GLIAC). The Wildcats return to action Nov. 7 when they face undefeated Ferris State at 1 p.m. on senior day.
