Box Score COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Northern Michigan volleyball team lost a hard-fought match to Ohio Dominican, 3-2, Friday night at Alumni Hall in front of 204 fans.
"The team battled all the way to the end, and I'm proud of our effort tonight," head coach Dominic Yoder. "We took a lot of risk, and we just didn't get rewarded. We'll turn it around tomorrow."
After the Wildcats won the first two sets by 25-22 and 25-14 margins, the Panthers rallied to win the next two sets, 25-21 and 27-25. In the decisive fifth set, the teams traded points until Ohio Dominican pulled away to win, 15-12.
Lisa Studnicka (18), Kayla Chosa (17) and Madison Whitehead (14) all reached the double digits in kills while Alex Berger recorded a game-high 31 digs. Studnicka (16), Autumn Monsma (16), Jami Hogeboom (12) and Megan Dahl (11) all made the double digits in digs.
For the eighth time this season, Hogeboom reached the 40-assist mark, this time posting a game-high 58. It broke her career high, set with 52 Sept. 11, 2015 at Upper Iowa.
With the loss, the Wildcats drop to 15-7 (4-6 GLIAC). They return to the court against Tiffin tomorrow at 2 p.m.
