Box Score HILLSDALE, Mich. — The Northern Michigan volleyball team was downed by Hillsdale, 3-1, Friday night at Potter Arena in front of 371 fans.
"We played tough," head coach Dominic Yoder said. "We had a chance at winning set two. The team attacked and played floor defense really well. We'll get back at it tomorrow."
After the Chargers won the first two sets by 25-18 and 25-23 margins, the Wildcats rallied to force a fourth set by claiming the third, 25-20. But Hillsdale took the fourth, 25-21, to score the victory.
In sets one, two and four, the Chargers used late runs to down the Wildcats. In set three, with the teams tied at seven apiece, Northern Michigan won three-straight points and never allowed Hillsdale within two again.
Madison Whitehead and Kayla Chosa led the Wildcat attack, each posting 16 kills and hitting percentages north of .300. Lisa Studnicka and Anna Aycock recorded 11 kills apiece.
Jami Hogeboom finished two assists shy of the career high she set Sept. 11 at Upper Iowa, accumulating a match-high 50. Alex Berger led the team with 24 digs while Northern Michigan totaled 11 blocks.
With the loss, the Wildcats dropped to 10-5 (2-3 GLIAC). They return to the court tomorrow when they take on Findlay at 4 p.m.
