Box Score BEMIDJI, Minn. - Northern Michigan University hockey tied with Bemidji State 1-1 to finish their two game series with the Beavers. The Wildcats were outshot 42-20 in the game but junior goalie Michael Doan was up to the task making 41 saves on the night. NMU moves to 8-5-3 on the season with a 5-5-2 Western Collegiate Hockey Association record, while Bemidji has now tied in three of their past four games for a 5-10-3 record and a 3-6-3 mark in conference play.
The Wildcats were able to get on the board first when sophomore defender Brock Maschmeyer scored his fifth goal of the year with 15:32 remaining in the opening period. Forwards Dominik Shine and Shane Sooth each recorded their eighth assist eight assist of the season on the goal.
Bemidji State answered NMU in the second period with 14:01 on the clock as Philip Brewer lit the lamp for the fourth time this season with assists to James Hansen and Myles Fitzgerald.
NMU would be outshot 11-4 in the third period with Doan making all 11 saves to force overtime. In the extra period, the Beavers would outshoot the Wildcats 5-2 with neither team finding the back of the net leading to the 1-1 draw.
Neither team was able to score on the power play as NMU went 0-2 and Bemidji went 0-1.
Senior forward Reed Seckel led Northern Michigan with four shots on net.
