Box Score BAY CITY, Mich. – Seniors Lina Lopes and Kellisha Harley of the Northern Michigan University volleyball team, were selected All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference First Team. Senior Kalli Herron was honored as a Second Team choice. Senior Sarah Hamilton was named Honorable Mention.
Lopes, a left-side hitter from Belo Horizonte, Brazil, leads the NMU offense with 394 kills on the season after appearing in all 32 matches and 117 sets. She's sixth in the conference, averaging 3.37 kills per set and is fourth in total kills. Lopes also has 38 service aces on the season and is second on the team in digs with 358. She was a GLIAC First Team selection last year, Honorable Mention selection in 2011 and the GLIAC Freshman of the Year in 2010.
Harley, a setter from Lakewood, Colo., sets up the offense with 1,231 assists this season, finishing third in the GLIAC with 10.52 assists per set. She has played in all 32 matches and 117 sets, and is third on the team in service aces with 36. Harley was a GLIAC First Team selection in 2012.
Herron, a left-side hitter from Peru, Ill., is second on the team in kills with 375 after appearing in all 32 matches and 116 sets. She is seventh in the GLIAC with an average of 3.23 kills per set, and sixth in total kills. She leads NMU in blocks with 93 total, and was a conference Honorable Mention selection last season.
Hamilton, a middlehitter from Galesburg, Mich., was named honorable mention.
Both Lopes and Herron tallied their 1,000th career kills during the season.
