Mike Lozier has been guiding the Wildcats program since the 2017 season.

Lozier guided the Wildcats to a 20-9 season in 2024, the third time they've reached the 20-win plateau under his leadership. The Wildcats finished third in the GLIAC at 13-4 and hosted Parkside in the GLIAC Quarterfinals, winning 3-1. NMU battled to a 2-1 lead against Grand Valley in the Semifinals but would go on to fall 3-2 to end their season. Northern defeated rival Mihcigan Tech in both matches during the season, getting a 3-1 win at home and a 3-2 victory in Marquette. Jacqueline Smith was named an AVCA All-American Honorable Mention as well as earning D2CCA and AVCA All-Midwest First Team honors.  She was also named to the All-GLIAC First Team while Meghan Meyer and Allie Barlow landed on the Second Team and Liesl Haugen was an Honorable Mention. The 'Cats continued to excel in the classroom, with four being named to the CSC Academic All-District Team. 

Northern finished at 12-18 in 2023 with an even 9-9 conference record. Lozier helped NMU sweep rival Michigan Tech in the regular season, winning 3-0 in Houghton and 3-2 in Marquette. Jacqueline Smith was named to the All-GLIAC First Team, Meghan Meyer the Second Team, and Liesl Haugen the Honorable Mention Team. NMU excelled in the classroom, with Smith, Meyer, and Lauren Van Remortel being named to the CSC Academic All-District Team. 

In the 2022-23 season, Lozier led the Wildcats to a 23-9 record, the most wins since the 2013 season. Lozier led the Wildcats to a GLIAC Semifinals appearance, and the Green and Gold earned an NCAA Tournament bid for the first time since the 2010 season. Jacqueline Smith excelled on the court, as she earned D2CCA Midwest All-Region Second Team honors and AVCA All-American Honorable Mention. Two athletes earned Wildcat Awards for their success on the court. The Wildcats excelled in the classroom, with 13 being recognized on the GLIAC All-Academic Team.  

The 2020-21 season brought lots of success for the Wildcats and Lozier. NMU had an 11 game win streak during the season and captured the GLIAC Regular Season and Tournament titles. Lozier took home the GLIAC Coach of the Year, the first of his career. He also coached GLIAC Freshman of the Year and all GLIAC First Team member Jacqueline Smith as well as four other All-GLIAC honorees. The Wildcats finished the season 15-2 and ranked No. 18 in the AVCA NCAA Division II Coaches Poll.

In 2019, Lozier guided a young squad to a return to the GLIAC Tournament where the team upset Ashland University to reach the GLIAC Semifinals. He also guided three players to All-GLIAC honors.

During the 2018 season, Lozier guided the team to their best start since 2010 by starting 9-0. During the season, the Wildcats upset then #1 University of Minnesota Duluth 3-1.  

The 2018 season, his first year leading the Wildcats, Lozier guided the team to a 20-win season and a return to the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament Semifinals.  Four players earned All-GLIAC distinction, with Kayla Chosa being named the league's Blocker of the Year. Chosa and Madison Whitehead were selected to the American Volleyball Coaches Association Honorable Mention All-Americans.  Under Lozier's guidance, the team finished first in all of NCAA Division II with 2.94 blocks per set.

Prior to arriving at NMU Lozier spent three seasons as an assistant coach at Wayne State. Before that, he was an assistant coach at Grand Valley State during its run to the 2013 GLIAC championship.

During his time with the Warriors, Lozier directed the program's recruiting efforts, assisted in practice planning and implementation and broke down game film. In 2016, Wayne State secured its first winning season since 2012 by going 19-11 (10-7 GLIAC).

Before he joined the Warrior staff, Lozier held the same position at Grand Valley State in 2013. That year, the Lakers won the GLIAC regular-season and tournament titles and finished with a 31-4 (17-1 GLIAC) record after falling in the NCAA midwest region finals.

During that time, Lozier also served as the men's club volleyball coach at Calvin College. There, he coached at multiple tournaments throughout the midwest, organized fundraising activities and created practice plans.

Lozier was also the 17U National Head Coach at the Michigan Volleyball Academy (2012 to 2014), the Director of Operations at Blue Lake Athletics (2007 to 2013) and the varsity head coach at Cedar Springs High School (2012 to 2013).
