Before NMU: Sommers played club soccer in the Typhoons FC program for 10 years, earning the 2015 Typhoons leadership award and helping his teams win multiple league and tournament championships. At Willowbrook High School, he was a three-year letter winner and earned a nod to the 2014 all-area honorable mention team.
