Calhoun is beginning his first year as the Volunteer Assistant Coach for the Wildcats of men's soccer.
Previous Coaching Experience/Achievements:
Calhoun brings several years of coaching experience to NMU. Prior to joining the Wildcat staff, Calhoun coached the local Marquette United club team for a year where he was responsible for developing and executing game plans, implementing conditioning and practice plans, and organizing drills and physical coaching programs.
The coach had two more stops prior to Marquette United. Calhoun coached the Potomac Rockets (Md.) from 2003-2007 and the program graduated six players who either had NCAA DI or DII full scholarships.
From 2001-2003 he coached the Arlington Soccer (Va.) team. He evaluated player skills and strengths and assigned team positions as well as promoting stretching, mobility work, and proper form.
Playing Experience/Achievements:
Calhoun played collegiate soccer for Wake Forest University. He walked on as a freshman and earned a starting position for the team. While a member of the WF squad, the program captured the 1989 ACC Championship which was the first-ever for the Demon Deacons.
