Biography

2018-19 (Senior): Competed in 38 of 39 games for the Wildcats … Tallied a goal and eight assists for nine points … Scored the game-winner in the home-opener against Bemidji State (Oct. 26) … Posted two point-streaks of two games … Was second on the team in blocks with 43.

2017-18 (Junior): Was one of eight Wildcats to compete in all 43 contests during the season, playing in each game for the first time in his career...Black recorded a career-high with two assists and two points on four occasions during his junior campaign...Assisted on the game-winning goal in overtime of the WCHA Playoff semifinals to help NMU advance to the WCHA Championships Game...Also tied a career-high on three occasions with a plus/minus rating of +2...Finished the year fourth on the team with 41 blocked shots...Black earned his first career WCHA Player of the Week award when he took home the Defensive honors on March 12...He recorded two assists and a +2 rating in the WCHA Playoff semifinals en route to the award...Named to the WCHA All-Academic Team.

2016-17 (Sophomore): Posted three points (1g-2a) in 34 games ... Scored first collegiate goal Feb. 24 against Michigan Tech ... Finished a season-best +2 at Bowling Green Jan. 21 against Alaska-Anchorage and took a season-high two shots Oct. 14 against Bemidji State and Dec. 10 against Alabama-Huntsville ... Named to WCHA All-Academic Team.

2015-16 (Freshman): Registered three assists in 26 games ... Tied Denver Pierce for first among Wildcat newcomers in plus/minus (+2) ... Posted first collegiate point with the secondary helper on Cohen Adair's game-winning goal against Bemidji State Oct. 31 ... Then notched assists in back-to-back games at Alaska-Fairbanks Nov. 6 and 7, good for a three-game point streak ... Recorded a season-high two shots at Alabama-Huntsville Dec. 5 and a season-best +2 rating against Bemidji State Oct. 31.

Before NMU: Skated for the Bonnyville Pontiacs from 2013 to 2015, recording 64 points (14g-50a) in 110 career games ... Was one of three finalists, along with James Vermeulen, for the AJHL Defenseman of the Year award in 2014-15 ... Named an AJHL All-Star in 2014-15 ... Captained Bonyville in 2014-15 and posted career-best totals in points (37) and assists (32).
