2012: Lettered for the first time after appearing in six games. Tallied 34 total tackles (22 assisted and 12 solo). Intercepted the ball for a return against Wayne State (Oct. 20). 

2011:  Redshirted.

High School:  Lettered three times at Hudson High School under Chris Luma. Played tight end and defensive end. Selected to the 2011 MHFSCA East/West All-Star Game. 2010 Lenawee County Defensive Player of the Year, two-time first team all-LCAA, all-county, two-time Detroit Free Press all-state. Team had back-to-back undefeated regular seasons. Division seven state champions in 2010 and runners-up in 2009. Also participated in wrestling and was state champion in 189 lb. class. Team was three-time division four state champions.

Personal:  Likes hunting, fishing, golfing and snowmobiling. Majoring in criminal justice with a minor in environmental conservation. Son of Anne and Jerry Smith. Brother David played football at Western Michigan. Born July 26, 1992.
