Biography
2017-18: Suffered injury which forced her to miss the final 21 games. Led the team with 14.1 points per game before suffering injury. Made 15 free throws in a row, then followed it with 17 straight made free throws.
2016-17: Started all 29 games, totaling 885 minutes played. Named to the all-GLIAC second and defensive teams. Finished first on the team in scoring with 362 points and in field goal percentage with a 50.8 mark. Had a three-point percentage of 40.0 and a free throw percentage of 83.3. Added 191 rebounds, 52 assists, 34 steals and five blocks.
2015-16: Started all 27 games she appeared in. Averaged 8.2 points per game with 114 rebounds, 37 Assists, and 24 steals. Scored a season-high 19 points against Michigan Tech (Feb. 1). Named team's Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
2014-15: Redshirted
Before NMU: Was a guard at North Woods High School who earned several accolades. She was named to the All-State Honorable Mention team in 2012 and 2013 along with being named All-State in 2014. Youngstrom was the Mesabi Daily News Player of the Year for 2013 and 2014. She was also named a Minnesota Miss Basketball Candidate after scoring 2,852 points in her career.
She was also Mesabi Daily News Player of the Year in 2012 for volleyball.
Personal: Darby is the daughter of Brian and Beth Youngstrom. She was born on June 16th, 1996 and is majoring in elementary education.
