Before NMU: Played for the Waterloo Black Hawks of the USHL from 2015-19. Competed in 151 games with Waterloo, registering 82 points off 17 goals and 65 assists. Recorded a +16 on-ice rating with the team in 2018-19. 

Personal: Graduated from Wayzata High School in Minnesota. Won Minnesota State High School State Tournament with Wayzata. Also played baseball, football and golf growing up. Son of Dan and Dores Sorensen. Has one brother, Jack. Father, Dan, played football at Notre Dame. Native of Wayzata, Minnesota. Plans to major in construction management.
