Join NMU to Celebrate 50 Years of Wildcat Hockey!

Alumni, fans, and all local community members are welcome to join for a weekend of events

MARQUETTE, Mich. -- The NMU hockey team is gearing up to celebrate 50 years of NMU hockey, featuring special events running from Thursday, July 30, through Saturday, August 1, 2026.

"We are looking forward to welcoming our amazing alumni back to campus for our 50th Anniversary Celebration," adds assistant coach Phil Fox. Fox, a Wildcat hockey alumnus, played his collegiate hockey for the Green and Gold from 2007-11, skating in 155 career games and donning the captain's 'C' in 2011. "We have an outstanding lineup of special events planned for the weekend and a fantastic group of former players set to be back in town for the celebration. It's going to be a memorable weekend for our hockey family, fans, and the entire local community."

Open to alumni, fans, and everyone who loves our special area, most events are free and open to everyone. The full weekend information can be found below. Head to tickets.nmu.edu to RSVP. 

The weekend starts with the Anniversary Kick-Off on Thursday, July 30, at Blackrocks Brewery from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. NMU alumni and Wildcat Hockey fans are invited to join NMU hockey coaches, staff, and former players in kicking off the 50th Anniversary of Wildcat Hockey Celebration and Wildcat Hockey Weekend at Blackrocks Brewery. Texas Roadhouse will provide peanuts and snacks. No admission charge. RSVP not required, but appreciated for planning purposes.

Friday, July 31, features two events, starting with an Open House at the Berry Events Center. Running from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M., coaches will tour alumni and fans through their facilities at the Berry Events Center. Come check out the locker room, weight room, team meeting room, and the various pictorial displays throughout the team areas. Mix and mingle with past players as they arrive for registration. Additionally, the Wildcat Green and Gold Shop on the Berry Events Center concourse will be open for fans to purchase Wildcat gear. No admission charge. RSVP not required, but appreciated for planning purposes.

Friday concludes with a Welcome Back Reception, taking place from 7:30 to 9:30 P.M. on the second floor of Ore Dock Brewing. Help welcome back former Wildcat hockey players and team staff at a public reception at the Ore Dock Brewery. No admission charge. RSVP not required, but appreciated for planning purposes.

The weekend concludes with the Wildcat Hockey Alumni Golf Outing on Saturday, August 1, at the NMU Golf Course. Public foursomes (cost $240 per team) are welcome to join former NMU players, coaches and staff in participating at the Wildcat Hockey Alumni Golf Outing. 
Golf Registration at NMU Golf Course will begin at 9 A.M., with a start time at 10 A.M., followed by awards and prizes at 4 P.M. Pre-registration and payment is required.
