PREVIEW: Colorado Road Trip over Spring Break for Lacrosse

The Wildcats play Monday, Wednesday, and Friday this week in Colorado

MARQUETTE, Mich. -- After opening the season 4-0 at home, the NMU lacrosse team hits the road for the first time this season to face a trio of RMAC opponents in Colorado.

The Wildcats (4-0, 0-0 GLIAC) hit the road Friday and practiced in Wisconsin before hopping on a plane this morning bound for Denver before taking a connecting flight to Grand Junction. The 'Cats will have a practice day on Sunday before the busy week of games kicks-off on Monday.

All games can be live streamed through the RMAC Network (PPV). Fans can still follow along to live stats for free at nmuwildcats.com.

NMU plays Colorado Mesa on Monday, March 2, at 6 p.m. ET, Colorado Springs on Wednesday, March 4, at 4 p.m. ET, and #17/18 Regis on Friday, March 6, at 2 p.m. ET.

The 'Cats open with RMAC Co-Champions, Colorado Mesa (0-4, 0-0 RMAC), who, despite having lost four straight to open the season, its losses have been to #10 Saint Leo, #19 Rollins College, #11 Lynn University, all during an opening-season swing through Florida, and a tight contest with Missouri Western. Mesa will face #16 Florida Tech on Saturday before facing the Wildcats. The 'Mavs were selected as co-favorites to win the RMAC, and return attackers Justine Anderson and Courtney Havel, defender Sadie Chappuis, and goalkeeper Heather Hawkins, who all were named to the All-RMAC Preaseson Team and earned First Team All-RMAC honors last year.

NMU then meets Colorado Springs (0-1, 0-0 RMAC) on Wednesday, who were picked to finish third in the RMAC preseason poll. Representing the Mountain Lions on the 12-player Preseason All-RMAC Team are sophomore attacker Sofia Watts and senior defender Jade Wilson. The Mountain Lions opened the season with a close loss to #6 Maryville at home last weekend, and a meeting with NMU opens a stretch of three contests in five games for UCCS.

The Wildcats will meet the other half of the RMAC Co-Champions on Friday, the Regis University Rangers (1-1, 0-0 RMAC). The Rangers, currently ranked #17/18 in the country, were picked #13 in the preseason poll and first in the RMAC preseason poll. Shea Murphy, Alyse Valdez, and Abby Mays were all named to the Preseason All-RMAC Team, while Murhy and Brigit Goetsch were named Preseason All-Americans. The Rangers fell to #6 Marryville in the season opener before bouncing back for a win against #16 Florida Tech.
