Hear from Head Coach Lindsey (LeMay) Majkrzak
Head coach Majkrzak said she wanted to see intensity and grit from her team in the season opener, and her team delivered, with 20-10 and 20-4 wins over Calvin and Northwood.

"We were lucky to get off to a pretty good start, especially against Calvin. I think the first game of the season, you don't have to do much to motivate them, usually they show up ready, and offensively we did that."

"We dominated draw controls, which is great because that's the middle of the field and it creates offense pretty effectively, and then Josie scored her most goals in a single game… We were able to get the ball moving around, and I was overall impressed with how we played offensively in both games."

While pleased with the offense, coach Majkrzak herself is defensive-minded and said that better defensive play was a point of emphasis for her club.

"I was really disappointed with our defense against Calvin. Allowing ten goals isn't something that we are going to be able to do consistently and win games… Moving into these next two games, I would like to see a step up defensively, and I am going to do a better job prepping us for what we need to be doing."

And while the Majkrzak was able to play her entire bench and get student-athletes some career-firsts in the 20-4 win over Northwood, coach acknowledged that scenarios like that won't always be the case this season.

"You don't always get a ton of games like Northwood, where we played every single eligible player. If they were able to go in the game, they went in the game, and that was really cool, especially to be able to do it at home when all the families were there… but I would expect that McKendree and then Lewis next week, we definitely need to be in our game rotation in a smaller lineup, and start getting used to being tougher for a longer period of time."
