Wildcats extend unbeaten streak, Bulldogs escape Marquette in 0-0 draw

Wildcats outshoot Bulldogs 17-4, had 60% possession advantage

MARQUETTE, Mich. -- The NMU women's soccer team and the Ferris State Bulldogs played to a scoreless draw at the NMU Soccer Field on Sunday.

Prior to kick-off of the last regular-season home contest of 2026, the Wildcats (8-3-5, 5-3-4 GLIAC, 5th - 19 pts) honored its five seniors: Madison Bilbia, Ava Buhlman, Isabella Lorens, Madalyn Nissen, and Emily Whyte.

The Wildcats dominated play, outshooting the Bulldogs (6-6-4, 4-5-3 GLIAC, 7th - 15 pts) 17-4 with a 60% possession advantage. The Wildcats were unable to convert on any of its looks today, including narrow misses from Lorens, Sole Corley, Cecilia Wille, and back-to-back corner deliveries from Gretchen Ellis that generated multiple chances. Despite the significant advantage in shots, the Bulldogs led in shots on target 2-1; goalkeeper Carly Sides had to be sharp on both on-frame shots, highlighted by a steady save off a great strike from Haley Buckman.

Corley (4 shots) and Alyse Daavettila (2 shots) led the Wildcats in attempts, followed by two apiece from Addison Frantti, Bilbia, and Wille. The steady back line of Buhlman, Riley Hill, Irene Kiilunen, and Nissen all logged full 90-minute performances, guiding the Wildcats to its fifth shutout in six games and seventh clean sheet of the season. Ellis and Corley both also turned in 90-minute performances in the middle of the park.

With the pair of draws on the weekend, the 'Cats now move to fifth in the GLIAC table with 19 points, just one point behind Davenport and Saginaw Valley in third and fourth, and three points behind Grand Valley in second.

It will all come down to the final weekend of play to determine seeding for the GLIAC Tournament, as the 'Cats travel to Davenport on Thursday, October 29, before heading to Grand Valley for the regular season finale on Saturday, October 23.
