Men's Soccer 2025 Schedule Release

MARQUETTE, Mich. - The NMU men's soccer team has announced its 2025 fall schedule of matches.

"We are very excited to announce our 2025 schedule," says head coach Alex Fatovic, who enters his fourth season as the head coach of the men's soccer program. "We've added two new opponents in Lawrence Tech and recent final-four participant Lake Erie, and we host a Division One team here in Marquette during the pre-season. The GLIAC continues to be a premier Division Two conference, so every conference match up is a high-level RPI game. To be the best, we must beat the best, and our program will have that opportunity this fall. August can't come soon enough!"

Starting at the end of August and running through November, the Wildcats will play 18 matches in total (including exhibition) before the beginning of the postseason, including 16 regular-season matches, 12 conference matches, and four non-conference matches, with nine home matches and nine road matches.

The 'Cats open the season with a pair of exhibition matches at the end of August, starting with Green Bay on August 22 at home before traveling to UW-Superior for a match on August 25.

The regular season kicks off at home with a pair of non-conference matches in the first weekend of September, with Northwood on September 4 and Lawrence Tech on the 6th. The 'Cats defeated Northwood 1-0 on the road to kick off last season, and this will be the first time in program history that NMU will meet NAIA opponent, the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils. The non-conference schedule concludes the following weekend, with road matches against Lewis on September 11 and Lake Erie College on September 14. The 'Cats played to a 2-2 draw against, at the time, No. 25 Lewis thanks to a comeback effort last season. This marks the fourth time in program history and first since 2019 that the 'Cats will face off against Lake Erie, who have made the NCAA tournament in two of the past three seasons, including a final four appearance in the 2022 season.

The GLIAC schedule opens with one match on the weekend of September 19, hosting Parkside on that Friday. The 'Cats split the season series with the Rangers last season, ending the season with a 1-0 win thanks to a last-minute screamer from Jaziel Sainz de Vilmorin

The end of September to the middle of October begins a stretch of travel, with six road games and two home games in just under a month. The stretch opens with matches against Purdue NW and Roosevelt on September 26 and 28, followed by St. Cloud on October 5. All three of these teams made the GLIAC Tournament last season; the Huskies were the No. 3 seed, the Pride made it to the semifinals, and the Lakers made it to the championship before falling to Saginaw Valley. The 'Cats two home games come against reigning GLIAC champions, the SVSU Cardinals, and the Davenport Panthers, who made it to the GLIAC semifinals last season, on October 10 and 12. NMU closes the road trip with three road matches in six days, at Davenport on Friday, October 17, Saginaw on Sunday, October 19, and Parkside on Wednesday, October 22. The Cardinals had a terrific 2024 season, making it to the NCAA DII Quarterfinals for the first time since 2012.

After six of eight on the road, the Wildcats end the regular season with three straight at home. They host the Huskies on October 26, the Lakers on October 31, and senior day against The Pride on November 2 to close the regular season. The GLIAC tournament then begins with the quarterfinals the following weekend, followed by the semifinals and championships the following weekend.
