PREVIEW: Lacrosse At Home for Senior Day to Close the Regular Season

MARQUETTE, Mich. - The Northern Michigan lacrosse team is prepared to host Concordia-St. Paul for its last regular-season matchup.

With the regular season coming to an end, the Green and Gold look to finish with a victory on its home turf. The battle between the 'Cats and the Golden Bears will take place on Saturday, April 26, at noon in the Superior Dome. Fans can attend the event for free or can live stream the game on FLoLive.

NMU is honoring seven seniors ahead of the game: Maddi Bast, Camryn Mayer, Dayna Carlson, Olivia Rose, Peyton Smith, Taylor Priestley, and Norah Bates

The Wildcats (9-7, 3-4 GLIAC) are coming off a 20-0 conference win against Saginaw Valley last Thursday, only the second shutout in program history, after facing tough losses on the road against GVSU (4-11) and Davenport (9-11) the weekend prior.

The Golden Bears (9-6, 5-2 GLIAC) enter with four wins in their past five contests, most recently a 20-2 win over SVSU on their senior day.

A Look at the Wildcats
The 'Cats are led by Josie Lakosky, who paces the GLIAC with 63 goals overall and averages 3.94 per game, posting 18 more goals than second-place Anna Fischer of CSP. Lakosky also paces the GLIAC in points with 82, 12 more points than Ashleigh Rothe of GVSU.

The 'Cats do a great job on the draws, as NMU holds four of the top ten GLIAC athletes in draw controls: those being Lakosky (2nd, 74), Katelyn Wozney (4th, 58), Evita Weiche (7th, 41), and Payton Ross (10th, 22).

As a team, the Wildcats lead the conference in goals for (210), draw controls (236), fewest turnovers per game, and are second in save percentage (.477) and scoring margin (4.5).

A Look at the Bears
The Bears are led by junior Susie Monson (31-28--59), who paces the GLIAC in assists per game (1.87), ranks third in points per game (3.93) and shots per game (7.07), while also placing seventh for goals per game (2.07). Senior Anna Fischer (45-6--51) follows closely behind, coming in at second-best for goals per game (7.07), shots per game (106), and ranking fifth in points per game (3.40).

Freshman starting goalkeeper Katie Colleran has a save percentage of 49.7% that puts her third in the GLIAC, while carrying a 9.82 goals against average that puts her in sixth. Colleran also ranks second in the conference in saves per game, averaging 7.00.

The Golden Bears lead the conference in assists (92), have the second-best points per game (18.07), shots per game (28.80), and shots on goal per game (22.00).

Northern holds a 9-8 overall record over Concordia-St. Paul, but took an unfortunate 9-13 loss earlier this season after a six-game winning streak.
