SVSU Men's Spring Invite Canceled Due to Weather

LEXINGTON, KY. - The SVSU Men's Spring Invitational was canceled after half of a round due to inclement weather.

Teams finished anywhere from eight to 11 holes in the opening round before tournament staff canceled the first round. The rest of the tournament was called off on Sunday morning, and everyone headed home early.

As a team, the 'Cats were +14 before the round ended, putting them in ninth place of 17. McKendree was first at +5, followed by Kentucky State at +6 and Davenport at +8.

Arthur Ylitalo had put together quite the round before the weather rolled in, as he started on the back nine and went -1 with one birdie and eight pars. Arthur recorded a bogie on one before the tournament was called, and he would sit even.

Tyler Annala was +3, Walter Ylitalo was +5, and Levi Pennala shot +6 through their respective holes before the tournaments cancelation to round out the team scoring. Russel Sprecher was +8.

Kyle Maki competed as an individual, shooting +4 through 11 holes.

NMU now looks ahead to the end of March and beginning of April, when the team travels to Wheaton, Illinois for the Flyer Spring Invite at the Cantigny Golf Club from March 31 to April 1.
