MARQUETTE, Mich. - The NMU hockey team will conclude the 2024/25 season with a trip to Big Rapids, Michigan, to face off against the Ferris State Bulldogs.

Wildcat Senior Weekend
The NMU hockey team dropped its penultimate home game of the season by a score of 3-0 to the Tommies on Friday night.

The Wildcats had scored two or more goals in nine of its last eleven games, including the last four games straight, before Jake Sibell and the Tommies snapped its streak. St. Thomas scored twice in the first period thanks to a pair of fortunate bounces before scoring late in the third on an empty net goal to seal the deal. Reigning CCHA Goaltender of the Week, St. Thomas senior netminder Jake Sibell, made all 21 saves on the evening, earning him his first career collegiate shutout. Hobey Baker Award nominee Liam Malmquist snapped his six-game point drought with a pair of assists, and Lucas Wahlin scored a goal and assist.

The NMU hockey team closed out the 2024/2025 home schedule on Saturday, dropping a 4-3 decision.

The Wildcats entered the third period down four goals to one before goals from Jakob Peterson and Matthew Argentina in quick succession halfway through the third brought the game to a one-goal deficit. The Tommies took a penalty with under a minute to play, giving the Wildcats an opportunity to tie the game, but the Wildcats were unable to complete the comeback.

On a night where the Wildcats recognized three graduating seniors, it was senior alternate captain Jesse Tucker who led the way for the 'Cats, scoring a goal and assist for two points on the evening. Fellow senior Ryan Ouellette made 30 saves on the evening, and senior Jakub Lewandowski had two shots with one block on the evening.
