A look at the Wildcats
With the result of an undefeated first two games, reigning 2024 GLIAC Freshman of the Year and All-GLIAC First-Team selection Josie Lakosky has earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week after scoring seven goals, assisting one, having a shooting percentage of 47%, and possessing 13 draw controls this past weekend. Lakosky was a member of the GLIAC All-Tournament team last year, where she scored five goals and an assist in two games. She now leads the 'Cats in points with eight.

Senior Maddi Bast and freshman Hannah Jabas follow closely behind in points with both having six, as Bast scored six goals this past weekend and Jabas clocked four goals and assisted two.

Bast and sophomore Natalie Thomas pave the way for Northern in ground balls (4). Senior Norah Bates and junior Mya Snyder set the stage for caused turnovers, both reigning in three from this past weekend. Bates earned GLIAC Defender of the Week honors after her impressive weekend on the back end, leading all student-athletes in the game against Walsh with three ground balls and three caused turnovers with two draw controls.

Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Zoe Montgomery and sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Esposito both received 60 minutes of play last weekend, each splitting the first two contests. Montgomery made four saves, averaging a 57.1 save percentage, while Esposito made seven saves and is averaging a 63.6 save percentage.

A Look at UW-Lacrosse
NMU will be UWL's first game of their 2025 season, as they come off of a 12-6 record last year, losing to Colorado College in the WIAC Tournament Championship.

The Eagles enter the season with a new head coach, Nick Anagnostis, who served as a volunteer assistant coach for women's lacrosse at Winthrop University last year. Anagnostis has also served as the men's lacrosse head coach for Wheeling University (2019-22), where he was named Upper Midwest Lacrosse Conference Coach of the Year in 2019.

Inside the lines, junior midfielder Ava Schiltz and senior defender Kaley Hendrick return for UWL, as both received first-team honors last season. Schiltz led UW-Lacrosse in six different statistical categories including points (74), goals (64), shots (115), shots on goal (96), man-up goals (9), and free position goals (20).

Hendrick was 42.1% from the eight-meter line and was crucial in only allowing opponents to score 10.6 goals per game. She came second-best for the Eagles in ground balls (39) and paved the way for caused turnovers (21).

With their starting goalkeeper, Abigale Furlano, graduating last year, sophomore Stefania Rossi steps up to the plate. Rossi had a 6.16 goals-against average and a 48.7 save percentage in the Eagles' previous season.

2025 Coaching Staff
Head coach Lindsey (LeMay) Majkrzak enters her sixth season at the Wildcats' helm and continues taking the program to new heights. In 2024, LeMay guided the Cats to back-to-back GLIAC Championship appearances after establishing a program-best single-season record and win percentage of 14-5 (.737). LeMay has posted three consecutive winning seasons and holds a career record of 42-21 (.667).

Quinn Crandall returns for her second season as an assistant coach after joining the 'Cats in 2024 after spending a season as an assistant coach at the College of Saint Benedict. Crandall's focus is on the attacking side of the ball; last year the team produced the most goals (257), assists (94), and points (351) in a single season in program history.

Student-assistant Minnie Bittell returns to the Wildcats, this time a member of the coaching staff. Bittell had a star-studded career in her tenure as a Wildcat, as she holds almost every individual career and season record for NMU lacrosse, including career goals (219), assists (97), and points (316).
