Haugen earns GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honor

It is the second time the junior has received the weekly honor in her career

MARQUETTE, Mich. - Northern Michigan libero Liesl Haugen has been named the GLIAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week, the second time the junior has earned the honor in her career. Haugen helped lead the Wildcats to a pair of road wins over Saginaw Valley State and Lake Superior State, tying a season-high with 25 digs in a five-set thriller against SVSU and following it up with 16 digs in a three-set victory at LSSU. The Maple Grove, Minnesota, native also stepped in as a setter when needed, recording three assists in each match.

Now averaging 4.88 digs per set over her four GLIAC matches, Haugen ranks fourth in the conference in the category, continuing to be a key defensive anchor for the Wildcats. 

Haugen and the Wildcats are back on the road this week, taking on the Michigan Tech Huskies on Thursday, October 9, followed by a trip to Purdue Northwest on Saturday, October 11.
