Annala in Third, Play Suspended in Round Two of Flyer Fall Intercollegiate

LEMONT, Ill. - Round two of the Lewis Fall Intercollegiate has been suspended due to darkness. Players will finish round two before completing round three tomorrow morning.

The horn was blown at 6:15 p.m. local time, with golfers finishing anywhere from the full 36 to 29 holes. No one on the NMU team completed two rounds.

Full results and live scoring for tomorrow can be found here.

The field of 15 teams competed at the Dubsdread course at the Cog Hill Golf & Country Club, which played as a 7,078 yard par 72 today. Through 86 rounds of golf compiled, with only six of those coming in the second round, the course averaged a score of 80.29.

Someone who may have wished he could have finished his round was Tyler Annala, who at the time of the suspension was in third as an individual and only two strokes off the lead. Annala turned in in an impressive first round 74 that included 14 pars and one birdie, coming on the par four fourth, and ended his first round -1 in his final six holes. Annala carried that momentum into round two, firing birdies on the par four 10th and par three 12th before ending his round with back-to-back birdies on the par four 18th and par four first. Annala, who ended his round at even par through 15 holes, will have three to complete before he can begin round three.

After an opening round of +10 with three birdies, Brady Badker opened his second round with five straight pars and would end his second round +4 through 14 holes, finishing second on the team and 37th overall with his score of +14.

Third overall for the 'Cats was Levi Pennala, who opened with an exceptional 76 (+4) in his opening round, including opening his tournament -1 through nine holes before adding two more birdies to his first round scorecard. Though he circled two more birdies during his 15 holes of golf in the second round, he couldn't find the same consistency as the first round, shooting +12 on the second round before play was suspended.

Brothers Harvey Ylitalo (+17) and Arthur Ylitalo (+20) rounded out the Wildcats, as Harvey carded four birdies and Arthur five birdies through their respective 30 and 32 holes of golf.

As a team, the Wildcats were tied for seventh with McKendree (+44), and trailing Bellevue (+43) and host Lewis (+40). Parkside (+14) had an impressive showing, as their rounds of +6 and +8 were the only two team rounds to be single digits.

Parkside had three players in the top four; leading the field was Shane Stanley (E), followed by Aleck Simms (+1), NMUs Annala (+2), and Ryan Lingelbach (+3).

The 'Cats will conclude the tournament tomorrow, finishing roudn two before playing the 18-hole third round to conclude. Stay tuned to the NMU Golf social media channels and the NMU Athletics website for an update on tee times.
