PREVIEW: 'Cats Back in Marquette to Host St. Cloud

MARQUETTE, Mich. - The Wildcats will look to clinch crucial GLIAC points down the final stretch, as the team returns home for a Sunday match against St. Cloud State.

After suffering the team's first back-to-back losses all season last weekend, followed by a tie with Parkside on Thursday, the Wildcats return to the Upper Peninsula to face the Huskies. Sunday's match will be the first of three remaining regular season matches for the Wildcats, all at home. Those matches will take place on the NMU pitch next weekend.

The Wildcats (4-4-5) remain in the fourth spot in the GLIAC rankings, two spots ahead of the Huskies. The 'Cats are 3-4-2 in conference contests. NMU will continue play this weekend against St. Cloud; 4-8-1 overall and 2-6 in conference matches. In the two teams' meeting earlier in the season, NMU came out on top (2-0).

  • Luca Rosen has scored five goals with one assist on the season, thus marking his point tally at 11. Rosen has scored the game-winning goal in three big moments for the 'Cats. Rosen leads the conference in overall shots (61) and shots on goal (24), while being second in the nation for overall shots per game (4.69).
  • Asaf Kristal recorded a season-high of 12 saves and a shutout in a big 1-0 win over Saginaw Valley earlier this season. Kristal holds the second mark in the GLIAC statistics for goals against (13) and saves (63), while leading the conference in SV% (.829). 
  • The team is averaging 0.796 goals per game with 10 goals on the season (seven in conference play). Also making an impact on the offensive efforts for the Wildcats is Tuen Van Gansewinkel with two goals and two assists.

St. Cloud
The Huskies recorded one win and one loss in the team's most recent weekend of play. St. Cloud defeated Purdue Northwest (1-0), but fell to Parkside (2-1).
