MARQUETTE, Mich. - The Northern Michigan women's lacrosse team gears up for the beginning of a three-game road stretch to end the regular season, starting with two games downstate.
NMU (11-3 overall, 2-1 GLIAC) is receiving votes in the most recent International Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) and USA Lacrosse polls, the first time the program has ever received votes in the national polls.
The 'Cats open the weekend series with a game against the Davenport Panthers on Friday night before rounding out the weekend at No 7/8 Grand Valley on Sunday evening.

- Minnie Bittell earned her third GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week honor this season, after matching a career-high nine points against CSP on senior day
- Bittell has been sitting at the top of the GLIAC all semester for overall goals, assists and points (59g, 25a, 84pts)
- Bittell is eight points away from 300 career points, and 16 away from 100 points in the season
- Freshman Josie Lakosky holds the second spot for total goals and third for overall points (35g, 10a, 45pts)
- Senior Kaitlyn Bridger surpassed the 100 mark for career draw controls and is fourth in the GLIAC for points (27g, 13a, 40pts)
- Bridger is nine goals away from 100 career goals
- Sophomore Laine Stanton scored a career-high of goals in a game against the Bears (4g)
A Look at the Panthers
The Davenport University Panthers have a record of 5-5 overall and 0-2 in the conference, most recently falling to Quincy in an 18-10 decision. Maddy Haynes is the point leader for the Panthers with 38 overall. Blakely Malpass trails closely behind with 34 overall points. The Panthers lone goalkeeper is second in the GLIAC for overall saves (106) and save percentage (46.1).
The Wildcats defeated the Panthers earlier this season in an 18 -7 and are currently on a 3-0 win streak, where they have outscored Davenport 46-20 in that frame.
A Look at the Lakers
The Grand Valley State University Lakers have an overall record of 11-1 and a conference record of 2-0, and moved up one spot in each respective lacrosse poll to no. 7/8 nationally, most recently defeating Walsh in an 11 - 3 decision. Freshman Laker Delaney Smith and senior Maddy Champagne are the point leaders with 39 points each, senior Sydney Stone leads the Lakers in draw controls with 44 on the season, and junior goalkeeper Kaylym Carter currently sits on top of the GLIAC for save percentage (50.5).
The Wildcats dropped the first meeting against the Lakers and now look to get one back. The last time the 'Cats were in Allendale was a 10-11 loss in the GLIAC Championships.
