Lacrosse Down Missouri Western 13-7

ST. JOSEPH, MO. - The NMU women's lacrosse team capped off its spring-break triple header against the Missouri Western State Griffons and came away with a decisive 13-7 victory

It was a hotly contested first quarter that the Wildcats came out on top of, controlling a 3-0 lead after the first 15 minutes. The 'Cats and Griffons both scored four goals each between the second and third quarters, but the green and gold stepped on the gas in the final frame, outscoring Missouri 5-1 in the first 15 minutes of the fourth quarter and 6-3 overall to seal the deal.

Minnie Bittell continued on her torrid pace, leading the Wildcats with seven goals and an assist to pace all athletes in goals and points. Taylor Priestly pitched in a goal and two assists, Avery Lorinser doubled up, and Kaitlyn Bridger hit 100 career points with her tally. Goalkeeper Lauren Esposito was outstanding between the pipes, making 10 saves for a .588 SV%.

As a team, the Wildcats out-shot the Griffons 35-23, picked up 22 GBs to 15, and caused 10 turnovers.

The Wildcats handed the Griffons their second loss of the season; their first loss? A 12-9 defeat to a familiar opponent in Grand Valley State. The Wildcats now improve to 7-2 overall, and the Griffons fall to 4-2.
