PREVIEW: Women's Lacrosse faces two GMAC Opponents

MARQUETTE, Mich - The Northern Michigan women's lacrosse team will hit the road for the last time before their first conference matchups. 

The 'Cats will spend a weekend in Ohio, where they take on regional opponents from the Great Midwest Athletic Conference, the Walsh University Cavaliers, and the Ashland University Eagles.

The 'Cats come into the weekend with a 7-2 overall record, the Cavaliers are 5-3, and the Eagles are 5-4.

Looking at the Cavaliers 
The Walsh University Cavaliers have a record of 5-3, most recently defeating Lake Erie 18-4. Senior Isabella Kelty leads the Cavaliers in points with 40 overall (14g, 26a, 40 pts), and junior Rachel Black trails behind with 34 points (23g, 11a, 34 pts). Junior Mallory Miller earned Great Midwest Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors for the second consecutive week for her nine-caused turnovers last week. 

The 'Cats are 0-2 with the Cavaliers,  most recently falling in a 13-10 decision in March 2023. 

Looking at the Eagles
The Ashland University Eagles have started their season with a 5-4 overall record with their first conference play set for Thursday, March 21st. The Eagles most recently defeated Lewis University in a 14-9 decision. Sophomore Ashley Fisher received Great Midwest Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors for her performance in last week's games. Fisher leads the Eagles in points with 42 overall (28g, 14a, 42 pts). 

The Wildcats are 4-0 with the Eagles, most recently defeating them in a 15-10 decision in March 2023.
