MARQUETTE, Mich. - The NMU women's lacrosse team continues its 2024 season with two more home fixtures on tap, featuring regional opponents in the Lewis Flyers on Friday and the Quincy Hawks on Sunday.
The 'Cats opened the 2024 season with a 24-5 win over Aquinas College the past weekend, winning the season-opener in commanding fashion. Friday will mark the season opener for the Flyers, and the Hawks with play Concordia-St. Paul on Friday before traveling to Marquette.
The 'Cats are 4-0 all-time against Lewis, and 4-4 all-time against the Hawks.

- Minnie Bittell scored six goals on opening day, reaching 150 career goals. Once she plays on Friday, she will become the program leader in games played
- Clara Johnson will hit 50 career games played on Sunday, moving to sixth all-time in program history
- Senior Kaitlyn Bridger dished out four assists in the season opener, moving her to 18 in her career and T5 in NMU history
- Freshman Josie Lakosky recorded a hat-trick and an assist in her NMU debut
- The 'Cats are 6-1 in their last seven home games, outscoring their opponents 121-83 in that span
Looking at the Flyers
The Flyers were picked to finish seventh of eight teams in the 2024 GLVC Preseason Poll, receiving 16 voting points.
Head coach Colleen Kincaid returns for her second season at the helm after going 4-9 in her first season. Last season, the Flyers had two All-GLVC selections, including Meltonique Bowen earning GLVC Midfielder of the Year award. Bowen scored 33 goals and 11 assists in 2023 to go along with 24 ground balls, 56 draw controls, and 10 caused turnovers. Lewis is also returning Carlie Serritella (22 goals, 28 points) and goalkeeper Kaitlyn Palmer.
The 'Cats last played Lewis at the beginning of the 2023 season, winning 15-8 on the road.

Looking at the Hawks
The Hawks were picked to finish sixth of eight teams in the 2024 GLVC Preseason Poll, returning for their fifth season as a program following a 6-11 2023 season.
The Hawks return 2023 first-team All-GLVC athlete Danielle Robinson, who last season scored 57 goals with seven assists. Her 57 goals were sixth in the GLVC last season with the second-best G/G average. Goalkeeper Kelly McClure returns for her fifth season, a goalkeeper with three All-GLVC honors in her career.
The 'Cats last played the Hawks on the road in the beginning of the 2023 season, winning the contest 15-4.
Maddi Bast scored a career-high seven goals in the contest, followed by
Minnie Bittell with a hat-trick.
