Meghan Meyer: Senior Spotlight

MARQUETTE, Mich. - Meghan Meyer is a fifth year senior for the NMU Volleyball team. She has been a key player for the Wildcats throughout all of her years on the team. She is a four-time All-GLIAC honoree. She is also studying to become a secondary education math teacher.

When speaking to Meyer, she reflects on her time at NMU and on the Volleyball team very fondly. "The time spent with the team, all the laughs and memories created with my teammates, and definitely just the people," are what Meyer says she will remember most from her experience.

Meyer is currently finishing up her Master's degree, which she hopes to have completed by the summer of 2025. After that, the fifth year senior from Michigan plans to return to Grand Rapids and begin her teaching career.

"Coming in as a freshman, I never really gave myself enough credit in my volleyball skills, but (throughout the five years at NMU) I continued to surprise myself," explained Meyer as she reflected. Meyer looked back on how as a freshman, she didn't fully believe in her skills, compared to now as she is one of the key players for the team.

Her advice to an incoming freshman would be to understand that there will be hard times that will challenge you, but she advises to embrace it and grow from it while also enjoying all the moments because, "it goes by too fast."

The Wildcats will face off against Parkside on Wednesday, November 20 in Vandament Arena for the GLIAC Quarterfinals.
